Harbinger Network has partnered with an ICI/Civil Construction Company to look for a District Manager to join their team in the Ottawa Area.

The role of the District Manager - Ottawa is to carry out the vision, mission, plans and initiatives as set out by the Senior Management Team to achieve the goals and objectives of the Company’s strategic plan in the Eastern Ontario geographic area. He / She is responsible for providing the overall leadership, motivation, and management of the business development, estimating, project delivery and general administration activities of the regional district’s operations necessary to sustain the company's growth and profitability objectives for all projects undertaken by the Company.

Some of the District Manager’s responsibilities include:

1. Sit on the Senior Leadership Team and actively participate in the development, implementation and carrying out of the company’s strategic plan
2. Build, lead and deploy project and support teams within the district ensuring having the right people in the right seats
3. Build and manage relationships with business partners, team members and customers
4. Lead business development activities within the district
5. Assist the Project Team in resolving issues with clients, sub-trades and consultants
6. Ensure the safe delivery of quality projects in a consistent manner and exceeding Client expectations
7. Provide leadership, guidance and strategic direction to the Project Team
8. Manage the district’s operation budget, exceed revenue and profitability targets of the district
9. Ensure that the company’s activities are executed safely in accordance with OHSA regulations, in a fair and ethical manner and respecting all laws, regulation and industry standards.

The preferred candidate will:

1. Have at least fifteen (15) years of experience in the Canadian Construction Industry in a Senior Management position with a general contracting company, or in a senior role of Construction Manager, Project Manager, Construction Estimator, or Business Development Representative
2. Hold a professional engineering (P. Eng), a Gold Seal Certificate (GSC), or Project Management Certificate (PMP)
3. Be a dynamic individual, who is 100% quality and customer service oriented, with the ability and skills to mold and motivate a team of dedicated operations employees
4. Have excellent knowledge of the greater Ottawa construction market and a well established network of business partners, clientele and construction professionals.
5. Have direct project management or site supervision of large Institutional, Commercial, Industrial and/or Water/Wastewater construction projects valued between $10 million and $100 million
6. Demonstrate superior leadership, motivational and mentoring skills
7. Have strong management, negotiation and problem-solving skills
8. Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (mandatory) and in French (preferred)
9. Be service and results-oriented
10. Be able to read, understand and interpret complex construction contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules
11. Be eligible for security clearances and possess a valid driver’s license
12. Have superior working knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
