Job description
Leading Mechanical Contractor is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to join the team in Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto with a focus on new construction as well as retrofit/special projects. The Project Manager will plan, organize, direct, control, evaluate and provide general management oversight of construction projects through conceptualization, scheduling, implementation and all other phases of a construction project. Ensures that specifications are being followed and work is proceeding and delivered on schedule and within budget. Salary $120,000 - $160,000. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with our client on this full-time permanent role.
Primary Responsibilities of Mechanical Project Manager
Develop a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of project with a logical pattern for utilization of resources.
The Mechanical Project Manager will oversee performance of all trade contractors, procure supplies and materials as required, and review architectural and engineering drawings to make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed.
Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements; obtains all necessary permits and licenses.
Track and control construction schedule and associated costs through the preparation and submission of budget estimates; progress and cost-tracking reports; and delivering appropriate responses to manage worksite complications such as delays, bad weather or emergencies; all in order to achieve completion of a project within the schedule and budget.
Coordinate with the Field Supervisor to determine and optimize labour requirements.
Investigate damage, accidents, or track delays at construction sites and submit notice if necessary, to ensure proper procedures are being used to resolve the situation. Consult with supervisory personnel and stakeholders to discuss and resolve any issues regarding procedures, complaints, and construction.
Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans; develop and implement quality-control programs.
Ensure a safe, supportive and productive work environment between yourself, your communication channels, and all other members of the team.
Support, promote and contribute to the continuous improvement of the business operations and relationships.
Provide workload forecasting for new projects and provide progress analysis regarding prospective unsuccessful pursuits.
Recommend distribution of new work based on staff availability as established by the team workload requirements.
Prepare and develop Schematic Design and Design Development reports and drawings.
Assure adequate field review services are provided to ensure adherence of contract documents.
Collaborate with the Construction Division on Design & Build projects.
Skills / Qualifications of Mechanical Project Manager
Strong computer proficiency in MS Office applications.
The Mechanical Project Manager will have knowledge of building construction, materials and methods, and codes.
5+ years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection.
2+ years project management experience in consulting engineering.
Registered Professional Engineer or eligible for registration.
Relevant project management experience in consulting engineering environment.
Excellent computer skills including AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Projects.
Solid ability to deliver projects on-time, on-budget, within specifications, and in-compliant with all requirements.
Ability to read and interpret plans and technical specifications.
Ability to manage vendor relationships and performance.
Knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations.
Able to interact and communicate effectively, written and oral.
Attention to detail and accuracy, ability to multitask and prioritize.
