POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director Financial Services, the Manager, Financial Reporting will provide day-to-day oversight and direction to the financial reporting team relative to the accuracy and completeness of internal and external financial reporting within established timeframes. This position is responsible for providing developmental support to the non-union financial analysts that comprise the financial reporting team.
The Manager, Financial Reporting will provide oversight to the payroll functions, ensuring regulatory and operations reporting requirements are achieved through the management of data, statistical and financial information and analysis.
This position is responsible for providing leadership over the production of the monthly internal and external quarterly financial reporting for the hospital. This responsibility is exercised by interpreting and ensuring compliance with both the CICA Handbook recommendations and the OHRS reporting guidelines, as well as solid technical capabilities with ERP software systems.
The Manager, Financial Reporting will assume delegated responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Financial Services, with respect to financial reporting queries.
Within this role the employee is accountable for contributing to the delivery of the Kingston Health Sciences strategy. As an employee, one must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for actively promoting and supporting patient and family centered engagement and care in all we do.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Operational Oversight: Coordinates and manages the day-to-day operational issues relating to the Financial Analyst functions which encompass staffing and performance management issues, assigning and delegating work processes. Provides daily direction, supervision and developmental support to the staff supporting the corporate financial functions (i.e., revenue, general accounting, and financial reporting) to ensure the completion of data input elements, analysis, and reporting. Resolution of possible solutions to potential performance management issues will be in consultation with the Director, Financial Services on possible resolution recognizing corporate strategic planning.
- Financial Reporting Internal: Responsible for developing and compiling monthly/quarterly dashboards for overall financial status – these reports are to be used by the Director and the CFO to facilitate meetings with Directors of all portfolios to ensure financial resilience is monitored. Significant expertise in SAP and data coding required to enable this reporting.
- Financial Reporting External: In collaboration with the Director of Financial Services, provides oversight of all Ministry of Health reporting (SRI, MIS, Other votes quarterly reporting), year-end financial reporting including external financial audit, and CRA charity return requirements.
- Oversight of payroll functions: Work collaboratively with Supervisor Payroll to ensure that reporting deadlines are met, and accurate and timely financial information is included in monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including ensuring timely payment of CRA payments to avoid penalties. Review of all payroll related reporting and deadlines to ensure regulatory and operations reporting requirements are achieved through the management of data, statistical and financial information and analysis.
- SAP Business Lead: Provides oversight of all SAP FICO reporting (E.g., creation of master data) and ensuring all hierarchies for financial reporting are up-to-date and accurate and in compliance with SAP. This function is instrumental to support managers and directors across the hospital as well as human resources and payroll staff. Maintaining the special purpose ledger (SPL) to submit trial balance to the Ministry of health quarterly.
- Develop and implement, in conjunction with the Director, best practices and the streamlining of processes to ensure maximization of the resource management system and functionality. Promote a continuous advancement towards higher data analytics proficiency within the team, achieved by evaluating opportunities for data automation and providing training to enhance the team's use of data analytics resources.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) required
- 5-7 years hospital experience in financial reporting required
- Minimum 2 years leadership experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
- Experience with ERP, preferably SAP
- Ontario Hospital Reporting System (OHRS) knowledge
- Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) – Charity return experience
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks (in a very fast paced, timeline driven environment)
- Excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills, written and verbal communications
- Satisfactory criminal reference check with vulnerable sector search
